Before applying
What kind of organisations can apply for funding?
Funding can be applied for by non-profit civil society organisations in all areas of society, for example:
- Associations
- Foundations
- Charities
- Civic organisations
- Interest organisations
- Labour organisations,
- Faith communities,
- Social enterprises with an idealistic or non-profit purpose, or other forms of NGOs.
Please note that individuals cannot apply for funding.
Can a CSO from Ukraine be the applicant?
To be able to apply for funding, the organisation must be registered in one of the Nordic countries (Denmark, Finland, Faroe Islands, Greenland, Iceland, Norway, Sweden, and Aaland Islands), the Baltic countries (Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania), or Poland.
Partners with relation to Ukraine must be civil society organisations or community institutions and are eligible to take part in this programme as project partners only.
What kind of organisations would be considered operating in exile?
As well as the organisation’s place of registration, partners from Group 3 will also be assessed on the basis of the organisation’s initial purpose. For instance, if an organisation used to operate in Belarus but then had to relocate to a Nordic or Baltic country or Poland due to the political situation, it would still be considered a Belarusian organisation and consequently, a partner from Group 3.
Can the same organisation act in several project applications?
The lead partner can submit only one proposal per call. However, your organisation can appear as a partner in another project, avoiding overlap/conflicts in the budgets and work plans.
Please be realistic about your organisation's capacity to be an active partner in several projects implemented simultaneously.
Do you require Self- and/or Co-funding?
Self- and/or co-funding is not a requirement for the Prosperous Future progamme but is considered an advantage.
Do you have the possibility of recommending potential partners or platforms where we could find organisations for cooperation within this programme?
Unfortunately, we do not have a database of potential project partners. You could take a look at the previously funded projects and possibly find some relevant organisations there. Please visit the programme website Nordic Council of Ministers Grant Program Prosperous Future - Overview of Granted Projects.pdf
For finding partners, we also advise you to participate in international trainings and conferences, and networking events. It is also possible to look for partner organisations on social media channels.
Are there any additional documents required?
A Letter of Commitment in English from all partner organisations is required. The letter must be uploaded as an attachment to the application. You can download the template here: https://www.ncmprosperousfuturegrants.org/images/templates/ANNEX%20Letter%20of%20Commitment.docx
If your project was successful
Where can I find the contract?
The contract can be signed via the Prosperous Future programme portal. When you log into your user account, in the Applications section you will find a green portfolio next to the project in question. Click on the portfolio to proceed, submit your bank details, and accept the contract. You will then receive an automatic notification confirming that the terms and conditions have been signed, along with a PDF copy of the document.
During the project
I need to make changes to my project budget. What should I do?
Reallocations of up to 10% of the budget (though no more than 6690 EUR) may be made without prior approval from the Nordic Council of Ministers, provided the reallocation remains within the overall purpose of the activity. However, reallocations regarding salary costs and other staff benefits always require prior approval from the Nordic Council of Ministers. Describe the changes and send them to us by email to
Where can I find logos to use in my communications?
All publications, announcements, etc., which at any given time derive from the funding awarded from the Prosperous Future Grant Programme must carry the Nordic Council of Ministers' logo according to the NCM Design Manual, which you can access on: https://pub.norden.org/designmanual-en/.
What are the accounting requirements?
For projects funded through the Prosperous Future, there is a special requirement to conduct an independent project audit, even though the project budget is under the general threshold for projects funded by the Nordic Council of Ministers. Instruction for the audit can be accessed here: Instruction for the audit of grants Nordic Council of Ministers ENGLISH.pdf
The lead partner is responsible for arranging and financing the audit. Project partners’ expenses, which have been part of the project budget, should be included in the audit.
There is a specific budget line for this item in the budget section of the application form.
You can use an auditor’s report template that can be accessed here: Conclusion: How to prepare a final report on your Nordic project | Nordic cooperation.
Where can I find more information on budget rules?
Nordic Council of Ministers Budget and administration guidelines apply to all recipients of project funding from the Nordic Council of Ministers.
Project closure
Should I include the receipts in the final report?
No, but you must keep them for five years and be prepared to submit them in the event of a spot check. The programme management body carries out several spot checks on final reports each year.
How long will it take to receive the final instalment once I submit the final report?
You will receive the final payment no later than the end of the year, when your project is due to finish. The final instalment of funding will be paid within two weeks of the final report being approved.
I/we will be unable to submit the report by deadline. Can the report be postponed?
You can apply for a short extension by contacting us by email
